Background

Hajira Ibrahim is a dedicated and innovative health worker with over 17 years of extensive experience in public health, particularly in rural settings of Ghana. Her career spans a wide range of responsibilities, from health planning and disease surveillance to community mobilization and health promotion, with a significant focus on maternal and child health and vulnerable populations.

Hajira’s educational background is robust and comprehensive. She holds an MSc in Health Informatics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and an MPH in Population, Family, and Reproductive Health from the University of Ghana. Additionally, she has earned a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Health Care Management from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and a Professional Diploma in Sexual and Reproductive Health for Low Resource Settings from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Her foundational training includes a BSc in Public Health from the Catholic University College of Ghana and a Community Health Nursing Certificate from the Community Health Nurses Training School in Esiama, Ghana.

Throughout her career, Hajira has held several key positions within the Ghana Health Service. Currently, she serves as the District Director of Health Services at the District Health Directorate in Okere, Eastern Region. In this role, she provides leadership and direction for all health programs and activities, ensuring the translation and adaptation of national and regional health policies to the district level. She has also served as the Senior Health Promotion Manager at the Municipal Health Directorate in Adentan, Greater Accra Region, where she was instrumental in advocating for health promotion policies and coordinating educational programs.
