Overview
The Wassa Amenfi East Municipality is one of the fourteen (14) districts in the Western Region and was created in 2004. Wassa Amenfi East was given a municipal status in 2018. It is situated in the eastern part of the region and shares borders with Upper Denkyira West in the north-eastern part, Upper Denkyira East to the east, Twifo-Ati Mokwa to the south-eastern part (all in the Central region), Wassa Amenfi Central on the west, and Prestea-Huni Valley in the south (in the Western region).
location, Land size and facilities
The Municipality has Wassa Akropong as its administrative capital and it is 180 km away from the regional capital, Sekondi-Takoradi and 136 km from Kumasi by road.The district has fifty-seven (57) health facilities which are evenly distributed. These facilities comprise of a District Hospital, a private hospital, six (6) Health Centers, six (6) Private Clinics, a Maternity Home, and forty-one (41) Functional CHPS zones.
