DDHS and district profiles

Background

With 36 years of dedicated service in Ghana’s health sector, I began my career as a State Registered Nurse in 1988 and progressively advanced my qualifications to become a State Registered Midwife (1990) and State Registered Public Health Nurse (1997). My commitment to professional growth led me to earn a BSc in Nursing from the University of Ghana (2011) and an MPH from the School of Public Health (2014). Throughout my career, I’ve served in multiple capacities – as a nurse, midwife, public health nurse, and currently as a District Director of Health Services, where I’ve championed initiatives to improve healthcare delivery and community health outcomes in challenging environments.

Professional Profile

As an accomplished healthcare leader, I combine clinical expertise with public health management skills to drive impactful change. My career highlights include successfully collaborating with stakeholders to establish seven new CHPS compounds (2020-2023), leading the “Away with Anemia in Pregnancy” initiative that reduced anemia rates from 51% to 38.4%, and earning recognition for outstanding leadership (2022) and TB program excellence (2023) in the Eastern Region. My educational foundation in nursing, midwifery, and public health, complemented by field experience, enables me to address complex health challenges while mentoring teams and optimizing limited resources to deliver quality care.

Career Objective

My mission is to leverage my three decades of frontline experience and leadership to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved communities. Despite challenges like infrastructure deficits and funding constraints, I remain committed to expanding access to equitable, quality care through innovative programs, stakeholder partnerships, and evidence-based interventions. I aim to continue developing sustainable health solutions that address maternal-child health, infectious diseases, and health system strengthening while fostering professional growth opportunities for health staff and maintaining our district’s consistent top-10 regional performance ranking.
